Solar System Upgrade

Information on solar system upgrades

Adding more solar panels to your existing solar system can often be confusing. Let Dollar Solar help you with providing detailed information on the different possible cases.

We can also help with installing additional solar panels to fully exploit your solar potential without disrupting your existing feed-in tariff system. Increased solar productivity without the hassle.

Below you find all possible combinations of solar upgrades including the 60c and 20c Gross Feed-in Tariffs or the Net Metering without extra tariffs. Each schemes has different features defined in the NSW Solar Bonus Scheme.

If you are on 0.60c Gross Feed In Tariff in the NSW Solar Bonus Scheme

  • Option 1: you can add a separate solar power system connected to the grid with a Net meter. This additional solar system would be completely independent and would not interfere in any way with your current gross Feed-in Tariffs. You would be receiving the 60c Feed-in Tariff as usual until the current NSW Solar Bonus Scheme ceases in the end of 2016.
  • Option 2: you can upgrade your existing solar power system with more panels, connecting them to the same Gross Meter you have been using. If you opt for this, your Feed-in Tariffs would for the whole system as long as the current NSW Solar Bonus Scheme is effective. Please note, you are not allowed to install more than 10 kW of solar power under these circumstances.

If you are on 0.20c Gross Feed In Tariff in the NSW Solar Bonus Scheme

  • Option 1: you can add a separate solar power system connected to the grid with a Net meter. This additional solar system would be completely independent and would not interfere in any way with your current gross Feed-in Tariffs. You would be receiving the 20c Feed-in Tariff as usual until the current NSW Solar Bonus Scheme ceases in the end of 2016.
  • Option 2: you can upgrade your existing solar power system with more panels, connecting them to the same Gross Meter you have been using. If you opt for this, your Feed-in Tariffs would remain 20c as long as the current NSW Solar Bonus Scheme is in effect. Please note, you are not allowed to install more than 10 kW of solar power under these circumstances.

If you are on Net Metering

  • Your Only Option: simply add some more panels (no 10kW restriction – though new grid application required if the upgrade exceeds the currently approved amount) and have the additional panels connected to the existing Net Meter.

The Industry has become cluttered with door to door salespeople, telephone canvassers and other d...
Recently Dollar Solar made the decision to offer ABB inverters as part of the standard package on our 10kW systems. Why? What’s so good about an ABB inverter? Well, for a start, let’s go back a little. ABB, as a company has some history. Lots of it. ABB can trace their lineage back to 1883 in Sweden, as ASEA and 1891 in Switzerland as Brown, Boveri & Cie. ASEA and BBC, also formerly kno...
Unavoidable price change on all Dollar Solar jobs. Obviously, we will not hold any clients who have previously accepted quotes to our revised quotes. We regrettably advise our customers that there has been a massive variation in the price of the Renewable Energy Certificates which has seen our base price on a standard 5kw system increase from $2990 to $3990 on our website. The decrease in the price of the ...
