Solar: What to look for?
First up thanks to all our loyal customers, the past seven years have just flown by!
What to Look for in Purchasing Solar
We believe the provenance of materials and naturally the quality of goods are the most important criteria. There is a frightening number (a significant percentage) of Solar Retailers starting up a sales business in Australia, using offshore Telemarketing teams and importing their own Panels albeit so called “Tier 1”.
The issue here is that the local company owner of that Tier 1 Solar Brand does not have to warranty these products if they are not purchased within the Australian distribution supply chain. We know this the hard way. We purchased big name brand panels from a now defunct distributor 5 years ago only to find 120kw of Panels are without warranty- never again.
If installers are using a three quote or similar lead generation company to get their business along the way pestering the consumer that could be a sign that the retailer has not been around very long. To be fair, the reputable quote companies do their best to screen the retailers but an ABN look up will verify how long they have been in business. Don’t be afraid to ask where they are purchasing their products from, specifically which Distributor. If you have concerns, call the Distributor to see that the product is coming from them so there are no issues in the future.
Companies that have to door knock for business should be treated with absolute caution, most successful Solar business’s have a good supply of business and getting referrals. I hope this helps you in your search for a solar panel provider!
We will post next week about Inverters and our experiences with various Companies.
Thanks again for the Support,
